Makiko Ohmoto (大本 眞基子, Ōmoto Makiko, born February 1, 1973) is a freelance Japanese voice actress from Kurashiki, Okayama. She is best known for voicing Kirby in the eponymous Kirby franchise, portraying she from 1999 to 2025. She also voiced other characters in the series, prior to stepping down as voice actress to become an official brand ambassador for the series. And for voicing Ness from the EarthBound series in Super Smash Bros..

Career

Ohmoto had stated in 2022 that he wanted to voice Kirby for the rest of her life, and also said that he would ask Nintendo and HAL Laboratory to find a successor in the case he would think that he won't be able to do it anymore. On March 28, 2025, Nintendo Japan announced on News that Ohmoto would be retiring from providing voice acting for the Kirby games but would continue to work with Nintendo as "Kirby Ambassador".
