Wikipedia:Requests for page protection

Page semi-protected
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
(Redirected from Wikipedia:RPP)
Welcome—request protection of a page, file, or template here.

Before requesting, read the protection policy. Full protection is used to stop edit warring between multiple users or to prevent vandalism to high-risk templates; semi-protection and pending changes are usually used to prevent IP and new user vandalism (see the rough guide to semi-protection); and move protection is used to stop pagemove revert wars. Extended confirmed protection is used where semi-protection has proved insufficient (see the rough guide to extended confirmed protection)

After a page has been protected, it is listed in the page history and logs with a short rationale, and the article is listed on Special:Protectedpages. In the case of full protection due to edit warring, admins should not revert to specific versions of the page, except to get rid of obvious vandalism.

Request protection of a page, or increasing the protection level

Request unprotection of a page, or reducing the protection level

Request a specific edit to a protected page
Please request an edit directly on the protected page's talk page before posting here

Current requests for increase in protection level

Request protection of a page, or increasing the protection level

Place requests for new or upgrading of article protection, upload protection, or create protection at the BOTTOM of this section. Check the archive of fulfilled and denied requests or, failing that, the page history if you cannot find your request. Only recently answered requests are still listed here.

Reason: Persistent addition of unsourced content. Waxworker (talk) 16:04, 31 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]

User(s) blocked: 200.8.116.192/26 (talk · contribs) blocked by Daniel Case. for 24 hours. Daniel Case (talk) 03:15, 1 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Temporary semi-protection: Persistent addition of unsourced or poorly sourced content – Several IP users have been re-adding an unsourced, and possibly fabricated, political-party infobox to this article about a NYC neighborhood. Epicgenius (talk) 16:07, 31 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]

User(s) blocked: 2603:7000:5F00:3E19:0:0:0:0/64 (talk · contribs) blocked by Daniel Case. for a week. Daniel Case (talk) 03:18, 1 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Temporary semi-protection: Persistent vandalism. IP 158.140.182.96 keeps vandalizing the page over many days DACartman (talk) 16:46, 31 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]

User(s) blocked: 158.140.182.96 (talk · contribs) blocked by Daniel Case. for 24 hours. Daniel Case (talk) 03:22, 1 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Reason: Some vandalism is going on in the article a bit here and there. I think it would be best to semi-protect the article for a week. This can just be a little cool-off period. 64.189.243.210 (talk) 22:29, 31 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Declined – Not enough recent disruptive activity to justify protection. "A bit here and there" is not enough to justify protection. Daniel Case (talk) 03:26, 1 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Extended confirmed protection: Arbitration enforcement – PIA enforcement. Jfire (talk) 23:03, 31 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Declined – Not enough recent disruptive activity to justify protection. Bbb23 (talk) 01:00, 1 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Comment: Quote from recent decision: ""All articles whose topic is strictly within the Arab-Israeli conflict topic area shall be extended confirmed protected by default, without requiring prior disruption on the article."" Sumanuil. (talk to me) 03:34, 1 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Reason: Protecting page from vandalism; several IP addresses have edited her biography to include sentences that she is of Chinese, Japanese, or Arakanese descent, which is not true and unmentioned on their respective citations. Call me PI. (talk) 01:52, 1 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Declined – Not enough recent disruptive activity to justify protection. Daniel Case (talk) 03:33, 1 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Reason: Persistent edit warring and addition of unsourced and WP:OR content by IPs and newly-created accounts. Borgenland (talk) 01:58, 1 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Declined – Not enough recent disruptive activity to justify protection. Again, with a breaking news story most of the reverts are of good-faith edits. Daniel Case (talk) 03:36, 1 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Reason: A user keeps changing back tyler1 as from Hannibal, MO. It is not, this towns page is primarily complete . I am the IP user in question however a user with Theo something keeps reverting information thats inaccurate despite being given direct evidence to the contrary. This puts the page at risk for misinformation and inaccuracies. I'm requesting the page be given protection to prevent inaccuracies.

Tyler 1 is from new london missouri Tyler1, LLC has a registered agent in the town tax records referencing where hes from show ralls county but theres no association with hannibal mo, I fear the inaccurate information is an attempt to leech off of tylers fame, despite contrary evidence the page keeps being updated with inaccurate information. 76.8.147.168 (talk) 04:02, 1 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]

    Semi-protection: Persistent vandalism – unsourced and disruptive edits by IPs. Sid95Q (talk) 04:48, 1 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Current requests for reduction in protection level

Request unprotection of a page, or reducing the protection level

Before posting, first discuss with the protecting admin on their talk page. Post below only if you receive no reply.

    • To find out the username of the admin who protected the page, click on "history" at the top of the page, then click on "View logs for this page," which is under the title of the page. The protecting admin is the username in blue before the words "protected", "changed protection level" or "pending changes". If there are a number of entries on the log page, you might find it easier to select "Protection log" or "Pending changes log" from the dropdown menu in the blue box.
    • Requests to downgrade full protection to template protection on templates and modules can be directed straight here; you do not need to ask the protecting admin first.
    • Requests for removing create protection on redlinked articles are generally assisted by having a draft version of the intended article prepared beforehand.
    • If you want to make spelling corrections or add uncontroversial information to a protected page, please add {{Edit fully-protected}} to the article's talk page, along with an explanation of what you want to add to the page. If the talk page is protected, please use the section below.

Check the archives if you cannot find your request. Only recently answered requests are still listed here.

Reason: Wikipedia, the article about itself has been indefinitely extended confirmed protected for nearly 1 year now (since March of 2024). This was in light of a sockpuppet who kept on vandalizing the article. I think that given the long timeframe, the person running the sockpuppet has likely lost interest in Wikipedia (no way he would be monitoring the page for an entire year just to vandalize it again and for it to be protected once more). GIven the few amount of users that have Extended Confirmed status and that it is the most important article on the website, it should be downgraded to indefinite Autoconfirmed Protection. Current requests for edits to a protected page

Request a specific edit to a protected page
Please request an edit directly on the protected page's talk page before posting here

Ideally, requests should be made on the article talk page rather than here.

    • Unless the talk page itself is protected, you may instead add the appropriate template among {{Edit protected}}, {{Edit template-protected}}, {{Edit extended-protected}}, or {{Edit semi-protected}} to the article's talk page if you would like to make a change rather than requesting it here. Doing so will automatically place the page in the appropriate category for the request to be reviewed.
    • Where requests are made due to the editor having a conflict of interest (COI; see Wikipedia:Suggestions for COI compliance), the {{Edit COI}} template should be used.
    • Requests to move move-protected pages should be made at Wikipedia:Requested moves, not here.
    • If the discussion page and the article are both protected preventing you from making an edit request, this page is the right place to make that request. Please see the top of this page for instructions on how to post requests.
    • This page is not for continuing or starting discussions regarding content should both an article and its discussion page be protected. Please make a request only if you have a specific edit you wish to make.

Add that 80 Palestinians in Gaza have been killed since the “ceasefire” began (i.e. genocide direct deaths have continued albeit at a slower pace) https://www.dropsitenews.com/p/death-and-destruction-returning-to-rafah https://news.antiwar.com/2025/01/29/israeli-forces-have-killed-more-than-80-palestinians-in-gaza-since-ceasefire-went-into-effect/ Seahumidity (talk) 09:46, 30 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Create an article about the song "Loco" by Netón Vega. MC-123 (talk) 15:38, 31 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]

@MC-123: Onus is generally on the person who wants the article to create it, not random editors on a noticeboard. If you think you have the sources to support an article, then see WP:WIZARD to get started. —Jéské Couriano v^_^v threads critiques 16:26, 31 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]
I was going to create the article, but it seems that action is restricted to only administrators, template editors, and page movers, which is why I came here. MC-123 (talk) 17:20, 31 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]
@MC-123: And which is why I pointed you at WP:WIZARD. Admins won't consider unprotecting a salted title without a good draft to put in its spot. —Jéské Couriano v^_^v threads critiques 18:11, 31 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Not unprotected per above. Daniel Case (talk) 03:53, 1 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]
